Brian Blomerth “Costume Party” Print
This 18″ x 24″ limited edition print by Brian Blomerth was originally produced for our BICYCLE DAY book launch event. The print commemorates an important moment, not captured in the main story of the book: the meeting of Albert Hofmann and his soon-to-be-wife Anita at a costume party during Carnival in 1934. This unsigned edition of 100 is printed on 250gsm Fedrigoni Materica Limestone Paper, offset printed with 2 additional spot colors.
“Near the end of the ball, it was customary for a prize to be awarded to the woman with the best disguise and the prettiest costume. On one particular evening, the winner was a certain Anita Guanella. When the gracious young woman removed her mask to receive the honor, Albert Hofmann fell hopelessly in love. He knew at once: ‘She is going to be my wife.’” – from the biography Mystic Chemist by Dieter A. Hagenbach and Lucius Werthmüller
