Vagabond

July 13, 2016 Mexican Summer
MEX214

Vagabond turns an understanding of downtown/NYC loft-style rock towards the present perfect, in measured bursts of dissonance and jazz-like phrasing. Vocalist and bassist Veronica Torres rides the waves of her instrument, describing romantic encounters in the abstract (“Turn me on/foreign body”) as guitarist Jonathan Campolo and saxophonist Ben Jaffe melodically strain to a reverberating denouement, the song stopping then starting up again multiple times in its lifespan. Sultry heat rises from the fray as Pill lays its body politics out on the line.

PILL is a four-piece draw from a deep pool of influences including New York City noise, krautrock, Sun Ra modalities, telepathic dreams and all six senses.
